1. INTRODUCTION

1.1. PURPOSE OF POLICY. violetrenditions.com (“us,” or “we”) is committed to respecting the privacy rights of the visitors to this website (the “Site”). We created this Website Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) to give you confidence as you visit and use the Site, and to demonstrate our commitment to fair information practices and the protection of privacy. This Policy is only applicable to the Site, and not to any other websites that you may be able to access from the Site, each of which may have data collection and use practices and policies that differ materially from this Policy.

1.2. NOTICE CONCERNING CHILDREN

PLEASE NOTE: We are a general audience site, and do not direct any of our content specifically at children under 13 years of age. We understand and are committed to respecting the sensitive nature of children’s privacy online. If we learn or have reason to suspect that a Site user is under age 13, we will promptly delete any personal information in that user’s account.

2. INFORMATION COLLECTION PRACTICES

2.1. WHAT BASIC INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

The Site allows visitors to leave comments in a comments form at the end of blog posts.  When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.   No personal information about you is revealed in this process. The Site may also gather anonymous “traffic data” that does not personally identify you, but that may be helpful for improving the content we offer.

Please remember that any information that is disclosed in the comments from becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose any personal information.

2.2. WHAT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

(a) COOKIES.  From time to time, we may use the standard “cookies” feature of major browser applications that allows us to store a small piece of data on your computer about your visit to the Site. We do not set any personally identifiable information in cookies (except as identified in section 2.2(b) below), nor do we employ any data capture mechanisms on our website other than cookies. Cookies help us learn which areas of our site are useful and which areas need improvement. You can choose whether to accept cookies by changing the settings on your browser.

(b) OPT-IN INFORMATION. If you leave a comment on the Site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again if you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

(c) GRAVATAR. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it.  The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.  After your comment is posted, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.

2.3.  NOTICE REGARDING EMBEDDED CONTENT.  Content on the Site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.).  Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. 

The Site may also contain links to other websites.  If you choose to visit other websites, we are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those other websites, and it is your responsibility to review the privacy policies at those websites to confirm that you understand and agree with their policies.  These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

3. USE AND SHARING OF INFORMATION

3.1. WHAT DO WE DO WITH INFORMATION COLLECTED FROM YOU?

(a) PERSONAL INFORMATION. If you choose to Opt-In as described in section 2.2(b) above, we will not share your personal information with any third parties without your consent, except for the limited purposes described in section 3.1(d) below. We may also use your contact information to inform you of any changes to this Policy and/or the Site’s Terms of Use, or to send you additional information about the Site.

(b) ANONYMOUS INFORMATION. We use anonymous information to analyze our Site traffic using Google Analytics and/or other web traffic analysis tools. In addition, we may use anonymous IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer the Site, or to display the content according to your preferences.

(c) USE OF COOKIES. We may use cookies to save your information so you don’t have to re-enter it each time you wish to leave a comment if you have opted in to this function.

(d) PERMISSIBLE DISCLOSURE. We may disclose information collected from you to third parties for the limited purposes of:

  • Enforcing or applying our Terms of Use and other agreements; and

3.2.  HOW LONG DO WE KEEP INFORMATION COLLECTED FROM YOU?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Any information collected while opting in under section 2.2(b) above will be retained for one year.

3.3.  ACCESS TO INFORMATION. If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

4. SECURITY

The Site has security measures in place to prevent the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information that we obtain from you, but we make no assurances about our ability to prevent any such loss, misuse, to you or to any third party arising out of any such loss, misuse, or alteration.

5. VISITOR’S GDPR RIGHTS

We reserve the right, at any time, to add to, change, update, or modify this Policy, simply by posting such change, update, or modification on the Site and without any other notice to you. Any such change, update, or modification will be effective immediately upon posting on the Site.  It is your responsibility to review this Policy from time to time to ensure that you continue to agree with all of its terms.
