About

Hi! Violet here. Ever since I was a child, I have always been intrigued by the strange and the odd, the unexplained, mysteries, the metaphysical, ghosts, aliens, you name it. I loved watching horror movies, and still do. When I was in high school, I purchased my first tarot deck, the classic Rider-Waite-Smith deck. Exactly where or why I bought that first deck, I can’t recall, but I do remember sitting with it in my room and being intrigued from the start. I felt like I had met a new best friend.

At first, when I would use the deck, being brand new to tarot and without any instruction aside from what the little white book had to say, the accuracy of the readings would always astonish me. Somewhere down the line, my first deck ended up getting lost, misplaced, or possibly tossed out by my parents. Either way, something felt like it was missing so I purchased another deck (the name of which I forget).

Sadly to say, that deck collected more dust than it got use. Excuses abound. Maybe it was because I was focused on other things during my years of formal study. Maybe part of it was also because I didn’t have a very strong connection to that deck. Even though the artwork was beautiful, the color pink was overly used for my liking. In grad school, I ended up swapping out the decks with a friend who had a hard time resonating with hers. The deck I received in exchange was Crowley’s Thoth deck, a deck which pulled me in immediately and one I still use today—along with several others.

Several years later, my interest in tarot finally had the fertile soil it needed to develop into a real passion. As my enthusiasm flourished, I did everything I could to learn more about this powerful tool. I am still discovering new things, pouring over books, doing readings (privately), sharing ideas with fellow tarot lovers, and spending quality time with cards. I won’t lie: getting a handle on tarot when you are new takes time, but from my experience, I can say without a doubt that the results are worth the effort.

A real shift happened the day I was finally able to put the little white book aside, to take off the training wheels, so to speak, and hit the open road. What I love about the tarot is that it makes me an agent of my own life. As an added benefit, I have been better equipped with the tools to help not only myself but also friends who come to me for advice. The tarot has made my life richer in ways I would never have imagined—and it continues to cultivate creativity within me every day. Through this blog, I would like to share this gift with all of you and I hope the tarot will enrich your lives as it has mine.
